Eight years ago I left a successful sales career to become a Health Care Aide. I felt a desire to make a difference in the lives of the elderly by caring for those in need.
While working in a hospital environment, I watched the Healthcare system become increasingly strained as the senior population continued to grow. Staffing numbers have reduced, budgets have not significantly changed and patient care has suffered as the focus has been redirected to how quickly patients can be discharged.
Those who need assistance at home are referred to Government Homecare but this option is not very flexible and therefore does not work for everyone. Some seniors find it difficult to adjust to multiple caregivers and changes in their routines.
